Johannesburg to Washington

Five o'clock in the afternoon finally arrived, and we were all ready to go through the security and the gate, so that we could board our flight to Washington.

This was it. The long flight, where we would actually be flying overseas!

Shraddah, Priscilla and Fourten sat in the front of the plane, and Kobus and I were at the back of the plane. Even though it would be time to fall asleep soon, I was not tired at all - the excitement and nerves just became greater and greater.

We had mini televisions in front of us, which was so useful, as we were able to track where we were, watch movies, and even listen to the radio. We watched many, many movies on the plane, and eventually the plane landed in Dakar, on the edge of Africa. We waited in Dakar for about an hour, and by then we started to get tired - especially with the time difference.

After an hour wait in Dakar, the plane took off, and we got ready to get to Washington.

Our journey on the plane was honestly extremely tiring and long. Luckily, we were able to sleep quite comfortably as we could move our seats down, and we were given a pillow and a blanket.

The food was also divine, even in the plane! Our breakfast consisted of croissants, fruit salad, yogurt, pancakes and tea/coffee.

After what seemed like forever, we finally heard the pilot say "10 minutes until landing" and so we put our safety belts back on, and prepared for landing.

As we flew into Washington Airport, it was amazing. It was early morning, and all I saw was green everywhere. There were so many trees! We landed in the airport (Washington) and then because our connecting flight to Houston was so soon, we literally had to run to make it in time to board for our flight.

The flight from Washington to Texas was only 2 hours long, and so it was lovely to have such a short flight compared to our previous flight.

We finally arrived in Houston, Texas, and it was just mind-blowing.
